The following data comes from Marko Beloglavec Info on SAAF 6887 (2) C/N 12704 C-47A-15DK manufactured 7 March 1944 USAAF s/n 42-92857 delivered 30 March 1944 To Soviet Air Force Transferred to Polish Air Force on 19 July 1944 as 04 (1) Transferred to LOT on 15 September 1946 and registered to LOT on 14 October 1957 (possibly 1947) as SP-LCB (2) Cancelled 5 February 1959 Sold 12 November 1959 and became OY-AIC 92857 French Air Force F-BRGM Transferred in latter part of 1972 to Yugoslav Air Force as 71241, opb 111 ppa at Zagreb (evidence for August 1974 / July 1975) Registered 2 August 1979 as YU-ABU to OCZS - Obrazovni Centar Zracnog Saobracaja (civil training centre) at Zagreb Sold 5 November 1979 and was registered N8071X - Atlas Aircraft Corporation TN-ADS (ferry registration for delivery to SAAF) 6887 (2) South African Air Force delivered in September 1981 Converted to C-47TP on 1 August 1995 At some point probably used for target towing duties - seen with target towing equipment in 2004 Currently (July 2009) used as transport aircraft by 35 Squadron SAAF Notes : According to an article published in Serbia several years ago, YU-ABU apparently had c/n 12389 and was a C-47A-10DK So far, this is the only source that says so. All the other sources where information on this aircraft is given, say that YU-ABU actually is C-47A-15DK, c/n 12704.
